Two Terrorists Eliminated in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara Under “Operation GUGALDHAR”

Kupwara, Jammu & Kashmir – In a significant counter terrorism operation two terrorists were neutralized by security forces in the Kupwara district under the ongoing “Operation GUGALDHAR.” The Indian Army, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Police, carried out the operation in response to intelligence reports of an infiltration attempt near the Line of Control (LoC).
“Two terrorists have been eliminated by the security forces in the ongoing Operation GUGALDHAR. War-like stores have been recovered. A search of the area is underway, and the operation is still in progress,” the army stated on Saturday morning.
Suspicious Activity Leads to Gunfight
According to the army, the operation began when alert troops noticed suspicious movement in the area. Upon challenging the terrorists, an exchange of fire ensued. The vigilant forces effectively countered the threat, neutralizing the infiltrators.
“On October 4, 2024, based on intelligence about an infiltration attempt, a joint operation by the Indian Army and J&K Police was launched at Gugaldhar, Kupwara. Alert troops spotted suspicious activity, leading to an exchange of fire with the terrorists. The operation is ongoing,” the army’s statement added.
Infiltration Bid Foiled
Earlier today, security forces reported that they had foiled an infiltration bid along the LoC in Kupwara. The operation is still active, with a joint team of the Jammu and Kashmir police and the Indian Army working in tandem to secure the area.
Recent Landmine Blast Injures Two Soldiers
In a related incident, two army personnel were injured in a landmine blast on Friday while patrolling near the LoC in the Googaldara area of Kupwara’s Trehgam. The soldiers were conducting routine surveillance when they triggered a landmine, leading to their injuries. Both personnel were evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Vigilant Forces Continue Anti-Terror Operations
Operations like “GUGALDHAR” are part of ongoing efforts by Indian security forces to combat terrorism and secure borders in the region. The success of such operations highlights the readiness and efficiency of the armed forces in countering infiltration attempts and maintaining the peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
The situation in Kupwara remains tense as the search for additional threats continues. Security forces have intensified their surveillance and patrolling activities in the region to prevent further attempts at infiltration.
