The Mumbai Indians on Sunday endured their eighth consecutive defeat of the IPL 2022 season after KL Rahul hit 103 of 62 balls against five champions at Wankhede Stadium. Chasing 169 to win in front of a packed crowd, Mumbai managed to score only 132 points with five players eliminated due to one-digit points. Captain Rohit Sharma started well but died at 39 and Kieron Pollard was far from his attack to hit just 19.
The most successful IPL Franchise sees its worst run in the tournament’s history and many have blamed it on a minor strike. Mumbai had bought Ishan Kishan for R15.25 crore at auction earlier this year but the youngster failed to justify his high price tag. He started with 50 in a row but Ishan has dropped since then.
The left-handed wicket-taker managed to put together 199 runs in eight games with a strikeout of 108.15. Former Mumbai Indians player Parthiv Patel has echoed Ishan’s “mental blow”, saying the opener should stick to his violent path in T20 format.
