A team of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) officials on Monday visited a commercial building outside the Delhi area of Mundka that was destroyed by a massive fire on May 13 that killed at least 27 people. DG Sunil Meena of the NHRC said the rights organization suomotu to understand the fire crisis and to address concerns about human rights violations. “It is the first day of the investigation, and it will continue as we discover more facts,” Meena was quoted as saying.
The other day, the owner of a dilapidated four-story building was arrested. Police said Manish Lakra, 35, who had been on the run since the incident, was being held at the Hevra Mod. The owner of the property was living on the fourth floor with his family and was able to flee to a nearby building when a fire broke out.
The political party was still embroiled in controversy after the ruling AamAadmi Party (AAP) blamed the fire on a number of misconduct by municipal companies led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Safron party claimed that the government led by Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi had . failed to take action against illegal structures.
