Narendra Modi distributed job appointment letters to more than 71,000 youth in  ‘Rozgar Mela’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday distributed job appointment letters to more than 71,000 youth and said similar campaigns have been held in NDA-ruled states and union territories in the last one month. “This is the double advantage of twin engine governments. The campaign to hand over appointment letters to the youth will continue steadily,” Modi said while addressing the second ‘Rozgar Mela’ (employment fair) organized by the central government.

A twin-engine government has been a theme of the BJP’s campaign in several assembly elections, including the recently concluded Himachal and the upcoming Gujarat polls. The prime minister sent a total of 71,056 appointment letters to new recruits via video conference. Physical copies of the appointment letters have been handed over at 45 locations across the country, except in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh where the model code of conduct is in force.

Modi said that in the last one month alone, union territories and NDA-ruled states have distributed appointment letters to thousands of youth. “Maharashtra and Gujarat have distributed thousands of appointment letters in the last month alone. A few days ago, the Uttar Pradesh government also distributed appointment letters to several youngsters. Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Chandigarh have also organized Rozgar Melas and distributed jobs to thousands of youth,” the Prime Minister said.

He said Goa and Tripura governments have also organized Rozgar Mela on November 24 and November 28 respectively. The Prime Minister said that the organization of Rozgar Mela has shown that the government is working in mission mode to provide jobs to the youth of the country. Modi said that the youth are the country’s greatest strength and the government is making all efforts to ensure that their talent is utilized in nation building.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the campaign is a step towards fulfilling his commitment to give top priority to employment generation and is expected to be a catalyst in creating more jobs and providing meaningful opportunities to the youth for their empowerment and direct participation in national development. Appointment letters were given to 75,000 people in October.

In June, Modi asked various government departments and ministries to recruit 10 million people in “mission mode” over the next year and a half. Modi also launched the Karmayogi Prarambh module on Tuesday. The module is an online orientation course for all newly appointed in various ministries. It will include a code of conduct for government employees, ethics and integrity in the workplace, human resource policies and other benefits and allowances to help them acclimatize to politicians and transition smoothly into new roles.
