Maruti Suzuki, which has halted the production of diesel cars, will also release only petrol vehicles, as the country’s top company wants to integrate its product portfolio with the government’s goal of reducing imports and exports. The transformation of the entire portfolio into a hybrid, flex-fuel, bio-fuel and seamless electric vehicles will take place over the next seven to 10 years according to current plans. It had stopped producing diesel cars before the adoption of BS-VI emission standards in India in April 2020.
The company operates environmentally friendly technology, said CV Raman, chief technology officer at Suzuki Motor. “In the next ten years, we will be replacing all cars. There will be no petrol cars. They will be electrified, or run by CNG or biofuels, ”he said. The official said all vehicles must meet the standards of the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) for the 2022-23 financial year. Also, BS-VI Phase 2 is due to be met next year and the next phase of the ventilation legislation will take place in 2027 and 2032, he added.
