West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has reached Varanasi to support the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav in an election rally. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader was shown his black flags amid the chants of ‘Jai Sri Ram’ on Wednesday. Allegedly, it is said that the people chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and ‘Modi-Modi’ on her arrival were the activists of Hindu Yuva Vahini.
The TMC Chief went to participate in the Ganga Aarti at the Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi. While watching the Ganga Aarti, Mamata sat on the stairs of the Ghat, instead of a chair to protest against the incident.
Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted that expressing dissatisfaction on hearing the chants of ‘Jai Sri Ram’ will not stop people from chanting it. People will chant ‘Har Har Mahadev’ in Kashi, ‘Radhe Radhe’ and ‘Jai Sri Krishna’ in Mathura-Vrindavan.
Manoj Rai Dhoopchandi, the Samajwadi Party leader who was with Mamata Banerjee, said that Mamata said it was the fear of defeat that is making them behave like this.
Meanwhile, the polling for the sixth phase is being done for 57 assembly constituencies, which is spread across 10 districts, which includes Gorakhpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Balia, Balrampur, Basti, Deoria, Maharajganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar and Kushinagar among others.
The polling for the seventh phase, which also is the last phase, will be held on the 7th of March. The counting of the votes and the declaration of the results will be done on the 10th of March.
