New Delhi: India has strongly condemned a security breach during External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s visit to the United Kingdom, where a pro-Khalistan extremist managed to tear the Indian flag in front of his convoy. The shocking act, captured on video, has gone viral online.
The incident took place on Wednesday evening as Jaishankar was leaving Chatham House in London after a scheduled discussion. A protester breached the security barricade and tore the tricolour while others shouted pro-Khalistani slogans from a distance. Police intervened swiftly, removing the individuals from the scene.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) expressed deep concern over the breach, calling it a misuse of democratic freedoms. “We condemn the provocative activities of this small group of separatists and extremists,” the MEA stated, urging the UK government to fulfill its diplomatic obligations and prevent such incidents.
Jaishankar’s UK visit, scheduled from March 4 to 9, aims to strengthen India-UK ties. However, the security lapse has raised concerns about the safety of Indian dignitaries abroad.
