Kangana Ranaut and Esha Gupta Applaud & give statement on Women’s Reservation Bill Introduction

Actresses Kangana Ranaut and Esha Gupta have lauded the historic move by the Indian government to introduce the long-awaited women’s reservation bill. The bill, which has been pending for 27 years, aims to reserve 33 percent of seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. This significant development occurred on the inaugural day of the new Parliament building.

Both Ranaut and Gupta were invited as special guests during the introduction of the women’s reservation bill and expressed their appreciation for this groundbreaking initiative.

Kangana Ranaut commended the government for prioritizing the women’s reservation bill, describing it as a “historic day” for India. She emphasized that the decision to present this bill during the first session in the new Parliament building sends a powerful message about the country’s commitment to women’s empowerment.

Esha Gupta highlighted the importance of listening to the voices of women and recognized the challenges they face. She referred to the bill as a symbol of “mahila shakti” (women power) and praised Prime Minister Modi’s efforts in advancing women’s causes, including initiatives like “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao.” Gupta believes that the women’s reservation bill represents another significant step in this direction.

The women’s reservation bill, officially named Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, was introduced by Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. It will only come into effect after a delimitation exercise is completed, making it unlikely to be enforced during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024. Nevertheless, its introduction in the new Parliament building marks a historic milestone in the journey toward gender equality in India.
