Lebanon Claims 105 Dead 359 Injured in Fresh Israeli Strikes Amid Ongoing Conflict

Beirut, Lebanon: Lebanon’s health ministry has reported 105 deaths and 359 injuries on Sunday following intensified Israeli strikes targeting Hezbollah positions. The strikes hit various areas, including the southern city of Sidon and multiple locations in the east, south, and around Beirut. These developments come amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, following the broader regional conflict sparked by the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
In a significant escalation, Israel targeted Beirut on Monday, killing four people, marking the first direct strike on the city since Hezbollah began cross-border engagements with Israeli forces. The bombing campaign has devastated several areas, and Lebanon’s health ministry claims that over 1,000 people have died, and 6,000 have been injured since Israeli bombardments intensified.
Among the most significant casualties is Hezbollah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, whose body was recovered intact after an Israeli airstrike on Beirut. According to Reuters, Nasrallah’s cause of death was determined to be blunt trauma from the force of the explosion rather than direct wounds. The Israeli military confirmed that the airstrike not only killed Nasrallah but also 20 other Hezbollah members, following previous strikes that eliminated key figures like Fuad Shukr and Ibrahim Aqil
As the death toll rises, diplomatic efforts are beginning to stir. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot became the first high-level foreign official to visit Lebanon amid the crisis, arriving shortly after France confirmed the death of a second French national in the country.
Despite calls for de-escalation, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains resolute in continuing the military campaign against Hezbollah, aiming to restore security to northern Israel, where residents have been displaced due to the ongoing cross-border fire.
The conflict, which has caused widespread destruction and displacement in both Lebanon and Israel, shows no immediate signs of abating as military operations continue.
