The first Khelo India Women’s Judo Tournament will be held across four zones in India

The first Khelo India Women’s Judo Tournament will be held across four zones in India from August 27. The Judo tournament is another initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to promote women’s sports competitions through a flagship program of the Government of India. , Khelo India.

The tournament, which will be held in four zones before the national round, is an open ranking tournament at the zone level. Competitors are in four age groups: Sub-Junior (12-15 years old), Cadet (15-17 years old), Junior (15-20 years old) and Senior (15+ years old).The Sports Ministry of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has allocated a total of Rs 1.74 lakh for the tournament, which includes a prize money of Rs 48.86 Lakh.

Sushila Devi, who won a silver medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, said, “I thank the Judo Federation of India and the sports authority for planning such a competition for judo and taking all steps to take the sport forward in the country. This will really help in the further growth of judo in India.”After the competition in all four zones, the national round is scheduled for 20-23. October at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi.

Dates: 27.-31.8. | 1-5 September | 5-9 September | 11-15 September

Zone: East Zone | South Zone | North Zone | Western zone

Venue: SAI Center Guwahati, Assam | VKN Menon Stadium, Thrissur, Kerala | Pestle Wood School, Dehradun, Uttarakhand | Sardar Patel Sports Complex, Gujarat.
