Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Civil Aviation General (Dr) V K Singh (Retd) said that he will ensure that India achieves the target of USD 5 trillion, which the country needs to invest 5 times more in infrastructure development. Addressing Gati Shakti: Transforming India’s infrastructure-based development towards a USD 5 trillion economy, organized by PHDCCI, he said the government was considering creating common utility corridors to ensure speedy transport, lower fuel costs and cost efficiency.
Dr. Singh highlighted the importance of Prime Minister GatiShakti, which was introduced to meet the challenges hampering rapid development in the infrastructure sector, all under one roof. The minister said that implementation and time-bound manner of completing projects are the main areas of PM Gatishakti’s master plan. He said the main purpose of the plan is to create a framework to support infrastructure development combined with resolutions. Under this, various programs attract the attention of all concerned departments at once without any hindrance, he added.
