Governance Focus: Police arrested a man after allegations of racist behavior during England’s test match against India

Birmingham police say they arrested a man Friday after allegations of racism surfaced during England’s clash with India in Edgbaston earlier this week. A number of fans said on Twitter that they were honored for discriminating against other fans in the Birmingham area on the fourth day of the test, with England winning by seven wickets to draw 2-2.”A 32-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of public discrimination following reports of racism, disorderly conduct at a test in Birmingham on Monday,” Birmingham police said in a statement.

“He is in custody for questioning.” The incident was also highlighted on Twitter by former Yorkshire midfielder Azeem Rafiq, whose allegations of racism at the club rocked English cricket last year. Warwickhire said it would send people into hiding for the second Twenty20 match between England and India in Edgbaston on Saturday.
