Harris has been dropped from the Australian testing squad for a visit to Sri Lanka

The opener Marcus Harris has been left out of the Australian team that will visit Sri Lanka twice in June and July, although he will have the opportunity to seek his return as part of the “A” tour team. teams of all three types of seven-week tour, which will include a series of three Twenty20 games, five international one-day internationals and two trials in Galle.

Test captain Pat Cummins will rest on the T20, while spinner Adam Zampa will miss the whole tour due to the birth of his first child. Harris opened the scoring in four of the five tests in the Ashes series in the new year before being knocked out by Usman Khawaja in the fifth test and recent trip to Pakistan.

Spinner Mitchell Swepson, who played for the first time on the trip to Pakistan, has retained his place on the test team.

Wicket-maker Josh Inglis, who is yet to play in the test phase, has been included in all four teams. The “A” team will play two one-day internationals in Colombo and two first-class matches in Hambantota in June.

“It is very exciting to have a part of Australia A that offers more flexibility and the opportunity for players to be available and transcend all teams,” chief selector George Bailey said in a statement. That could come from a test or a white ball or a chance to play at international level.
