India Reiterates Humanitarian Assistance to Gaza Amid Israel-Hamas Conflict

India’s Deputy Permanent Representative (DPR) to the United Nations, Ambassador R. Ravindra, has reaffirmed India’s commitment to providing humanitarian assistance to civilians in the Gaza Strip as the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues. Ambassador Ravindra announced that India has already sent 38 tons of food and critical medical equipment to the region and pledged to continue these efforts.
During a session of the UN Security Council addressing the Israel-Hamas conflict, Ambassador Ravindra emphasized India’s support for the Palestinian people through a bilateral development partnership. This partnership covers various sectors, including health, education, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, and information technology. He stated, “In these challenging times, India will continue to send humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine.”
India’s humanitarian aid efforts in the Gaza Strip were reinforced when, on Sunday, the country dispatched a military heavy lift aircraft loaded with approximately 6.5 tonnes of medical aid and 32 tonnes of disaster relief materials for Palestinians in need.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating situation and the loss of civilian lives in the ongoing conflict, Ambassador Ravindra condemned the terror attacks on Israel that occurred on October 7. He also extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
Ambassador Ravindra emphasized the need to protect civilians, especially women and children, and called for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine issue. He stressed that every effort must be made to create conditions conducive to the resumption of peace talks between the two parties.
The Israel-Hamas conflict, which began on October 7 with unprecedented attacks by Hamas militants, entered its 19th day, resulting in casualties on both sides. As tensions persist, India remains committed to providing humanitarian aid and support to the affected regions.
India’s diplomatic efforts at the United Nations reflect its commitment to promoting peace and supporting those in need during times of crisis.
