Vertical Launch Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VL-SRSAM) has successfully tested a Defense Research & Development Organization (DRDO) aircraft with the Indian Navy from the Indian Naval Ship at Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur near the coast of Odisha. June 24, 2022. VL-SRSAM, a shipwreck program, is designed to eliminate various airborne threats in nearby areas, including offshore skiing.
The launch of the program was carried out against a high-speed aircraft, which was successfully intercepted. The flight path and health limits were monitored using a number of tracking devices used by ITR, Chandipur. The launch was commissioned by senior officials from the DRDO and the Indian Navy.Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh congratulated the DRDO, Indian Navy and industry on the successful launch of the aircraft and said the plan added weapons that would improve the defense capabilities of Indian Navy ships against airborne threats.
Naval Commander Admiral R Hari Kumar thanked the Indian Navy & DRDO for the successful testing of the VL-SRSAM aircraft and said the development of this traditional arrow system would strengthen the defense force in the Indian Navy. Secretary, Department of Defense R&D & DRDO Chairman Dr G Satheesh Reddy commended the teams that participated in the successful flight test. He said the test confirmed the integration of the traditional weapons system into Indian Naval Ships. He added that it would be a repeat of power in the Indian Navy and another milestone in the view of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
