COVID-19 Update New Case, One Death Reported in Kalyan-Dombivli

The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has reported a fresh COVID-19 case and one new fatality, taking the total number of active cases in the area to eight, with two individuals currently hospitalized.

Health authorities confirmed that a 67-year-old man from Dombivli, who was admitted to the government hospital in Kalwa on May 25, succumbed to the infection on Wednesday. The patient was suffering from underlying conditions, including hypertension and diabetes, and had not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

Speaking to the media, Health Officer Dr. Deepa Shukla said the death highlights the continued risk posed by the virus, especially to vulnerable and unvaccinated individuals. “Even with lower case counts, comorbidities significantly raise the threat of severe outcomes,” she said.

The deceased is the second fatality reported within the KDMC limits this month. A previous COVID-19-related death had been confirmed on May 22.

Officials urge residents, particularly senior citizens and those with chronic health issues, to remain cautious and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms arise. Although the number of cases remains relatively low, authorities stress that the pandemic is not over, and preventive measures are still essential.

Health teams are continuing surveillance, testing, and awareness campaigns to prevent further spread in the region.
