Communications Department Launches GatiShakti Sanchar Website for Centralized Right of Way (RoW)

Equitable and equitable access to Broadband services across the country, especially in rural areas – is one of the most important ideas of Shri Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India. In line with PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, Shri AshwiniVaishnaw, Minister of Communications, Electricity & IT and Trains, launched the “GatiShakti Sanchar” website for the approval of the Centralized Right of Way (RoW).The event was also attended by Senior Secretaries of State and various IT Secretaries and other dignitaries from across the country; and CEOs / CMDs / DGs / VPs / Presidents of various Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), such as BBNL, Bharti Airtel Ltd, BSNL / MTNL, COAI, DIPA, Indus Towers, ISPAI, Reliance JIO, Sterlite, Vodafone Idea etc. .

The site is developed by focusing on the areas of National Broadband Mission vision at its core, namely, providing broadband infrastructure as a critical resource for all citizens, governance and the necessary services and in particular, the digital empowerment of our citizens. country. The National Broadband Mission (NBM) was established by the Department of Communications (DoT) on 17 December 2019; facilitating equitable and equitable access to broadband services across the country, especially in rural and remote areas. In order to achieve this vision, it is imperative that the backbone of the infrastructure through the efficient delivery and distribution of Digital Communication infrastructure across the country be compelled. To ensure that, DoT, launches the “GatiShakti Sanchar” website. This will provide a strong mechanism for achieving the “Broadband for All” policy as enshrined in National Digital Policy 2.

MOC stated at the launch

At the time of the launch, the MoC stated, “The site will serve as a tool to achieve the goal of” simplifying the business “of communications infrastructure in line with the vision of the Honorable Prime Minister. He highlighted the benefits of the use of technical tools in governance. The site will enable applicants to enable various Telecom service providers (TSPs) and infrastructure providers (IPs) to apply in one common location to obtain Right of Way permits to lay down the Optical Fiber Cable and to erect mobile towers for Provincial / UT Governments and local bodies. As it slows down the process of RoW permits and speed permits; it is believed to help facilitate the deployment of 5G services, where the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) is installed in a very short time. In order to effectively monitor RoW applications nationwide, the site even comes with a powerful dashboard that reflects the status of the Regional and Provincial framework.

The Government of India is committed to facilitating “Doing Business With Easy” and the launch of the “GatiShakti Sanchar” website is another step towards that. The portal will also bring many benefits to the public sector – both Central and Provincial / UT. It will streamline the RoW accreditation process, which will result in:

• Rapid transmission of additional Optical Fiber cable and thus speed up fiberization

• Increased density of towers that will improve communication and improve the quality of various communication services

• Increased fiberization of telecom towers, thus ensuring better Broadband speeds, nationwide

The site, developed by MP state Electronics Development Corporation on behalf of DoT and is expected to report to the national organization ‘AatmaNirbhar ’, has been instrumental in transforming our country into a digital and knowledge-based society. The positive impact of these DoT efforts has been felt in rural and urban areas of India, ensuring strong broadband connectivity, which will ensure seamless digital access, digital service delivery and digital integration for all, based on sustainable, affordable and flexible technology.
