The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) operates as a national agency to perform various functions in the online security environment in terms of section 70B of the IT Act, 2000. CERT-In continuously analyzes Internet threats and manages online events tracked and reported. Guidelines issued by CERT-In relating to information security procedures in the exercise of the powers conferred on / s 70B (6) of the Information Technology Act to promote an Open, Secure & Reliable and Responsive Internet on April 28, 2022.
Subsequently, in response to the general CERT-In inquiries, a set of frequently asked questions (FAQs) was also released by the Hon’ble Minister for Electronics & Skills Development and Entrepreneurship, Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar on 18 May. , 2022 to better understand the various stakeholders and to promote the Open, Secure & Reliable and Responsive Internet in the country.
MeitY and CERT-In accept applications for extensions of the Cyber Security Guidelines dated 28 April, 2022 for Small, Medium and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). In addition, more time has been required to implement subscriber / customer verification methods by Data Centers, Virtual Private Server (VPS) providers, Cloud Service Providers and Virtual Private Network (VPN Service) service providers.
The matter has been considered by CERT-In and it has been decided to extend it by September 25, 2022 to Small, Medium and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to build the capacity needed to implement Cyber Security Guidelines. In addition, Data Centers, Virtual Private Server (VPS) providers, Cloud Service Providers and Virtual Private Network Service (VPN Service) providers are also granted additional time until September 25, 2022 to implement related procedures and features for verifying subscriber / customer information.
