Akshay Kumar starrer Ram Setu, an action-adventure drama that follows an archaeologist investigating whether Ram Setu is myth or reality, may face legal trouble. BJP MP Subramanian Swamy said he would sue Ram Setu’s team for “falsification” of facts and “violations”. Subramanian Swamy tagged Karma Media, which is producing a standalone film on the bridge, in a tweet earlier this month.
He wrote: “Contact us: Are you stealing the Ram Setu case as yours by converting the Supreme Court order I got?” He didn’t seem to be contacted by the makers as he recently took to his Twitter handle to reveal that he is in the process of suing Karma Media and Akshay Kumar in connection with their two separate films on Ram Seth.
Akshay Kumar’s film titled Ram Setu is directed by Abhishek Sharma and is co-produced by his company Cape of Good Films along with Amazon Prime Video, Abundantia Entertainment and Lyca Productions. Karma Media’s Setu is directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and produced by Shailesh R Singh. Subramanian Swamy tweeted about the two films, “The suit for compensation was completed by my associate Satya Sabharwal Adv. I am suing Akshay Kumar, an actor and & Karma Media for damages caused by falsification in the portrayal of the Ram Setu issue in their film to be released.
” In another tweet, the BJP MP talked about Akshay Kumar’s Canadian citizenship and said, “If actor Akshay Kumar is a foreigner, then we can request that he be arrested and deported (from) his adopted country.” His associate Satya Sabharwal shared more details about their suit, claiming that Subramanian Swamy’s SC order on Ram Setu was used as a poster in a Karma Media film.In another tweet, the BJP MP said his suit will also have infringement as one of the allegations. Akshay Kumar’s Ram Setu also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushratt Bharuccha and Satya Dev in pivotal roles. The premiere of the film is expected on October 24 this year.
