The BJP government in Delhi will start the registration process for providing ₹2,500 per month to women from economically weaker sections under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojna from March 8, party MP Manoj Tiwari announced on Sunday.
Tiwari stated that a list of beneficiaries would be prepared, and the entire process of distributing financial aid would be completed within one and a half months. He urged eligible women to register for the scheme.
The opposition AAP criticized the BJP for not approving the scheme in its first Cabinet meeting, as promised. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta defended her government, blaming the previous AAP regime for leaving behind “empty coffers” but assured that all promises would be fulfilled.
AAP spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar reminded the BJP of its election commitments, including the ₹2,500 aid, LPG cylinders at ₹500, and free cylinders on Holi and Diwali. Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva dismissed AAP’s criticism, asserting that the party was committed to delivering on its promises.
