The Restaurant Shows the bill slip of 1985 & viewers shocked by watching price of full meal

Most of us like to eat it outside in restaurants or cafes. But nowadays, a lot of people complain about the small portions and extremely high prices. What’s more, tax is added to the bill. One meal at a budget friendly place can cost anyone around ₹1000-1200. But have you ever thought about the price nearly four decades ago? A restaurant shared a bill from 1985, roughly 37 years ago, and it shocked many netizens.

The post which was originally shared on August 12, 2013 on Facebook has now gone viral again. Lazeez Restaurant & Hotel located in Lajpat Nagar area of Delhi shared a bill dated 20th December 1985. A customer ordered a plate of Shahi Paneer, Dal Makhni, Raita and some chapatis as mentioned in the bill. The items were priced at ₹8 for the first two dishes, ₹5 and ₹6 for the next two. What’s more shocking is the total amount of the bill – ₹26 – which is equivalent to the price of a pack of chips these days. Since the post was shared, it has accumulated over 1,800 likes and 587 shares. Several users were confused when they saw the same. One user said: “OMG… It was so cheap back then… yes, of course the value of money was much much much higher back then…” Reminiscing about the old days, one netizen said: “Aha! din bhi kya din the (Aha! Those were the times). In 1968 in Adyar, I was paying Rs 18.60 for 20 liters of petrol. I used to put 10p in the ‘chokra’ to check the air in the tyres. The gas station is still opposite the Andhra Mahila Sabha. (HIDUMBAN)….Rs 1.90 per scooter from Dhaula Kuan to Sadarjang Enclave!!!! My SPS salary in 1972 was ₹550 per month!!”
