The grand old party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will end in Jammu Kashmir this month after covering several states

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday posted New Year wishes as the country was immersed in celebrations to ring in 2023. Taking to Twitter, the Congress leader shared a video with glimpses of the Bharat Jodo Yatra that began in September. “I hope that by 2023, every lane, every village, every city will have a ‘Mohabbat ki Dukaan’ (shop that sells love),” he wrote in the post, loosely translated from Hindi. “We wish everyone a happy new year!” added the Congress MP from Kerala’s Wayanad.

The grand old party’s Bharat Jodo Yatra will end in Jammu and Kashmir this month after covering several states. The mass outreach program is the party’s biggest attempt in nearly a decade to renew its connect with potential voters amid preparations for various state elections and the 2024 national polls after facing back-to-back defeats since the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.

On Saturday, Rahul Gandhi – while addressing a press conference – spoke about speculations about the non-participation of Uttar Pradesh’s top leaders: Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. “Hate and love are diametrically opposed…But many people want to spread love. I know Akhilesh ji and Mayawati ji don’t want hate. Rishta toh hai…” he said. A show of strength by opposition leaders in UP would be a boost ahead of the next election season.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi has been targeting the BJP with his ‘love’ and ‘hate’ ever since he started mass campaigning. He also targeted the RSS, the BJP’s ideological parent, in his election speeches. Many of his party colleagues are talking about him being seen as the face of the opposition for the 2024 elections. “Rahul Gandhi does not do politics for power but for the people of the country who force anyone to sit in power,” Kamal Nath said this week, according to sources.
