The Department of Industrial Promotion and Internal Trade (DPIIT) organized the B20 Indonesia Global Dialogue Conference in New Delhi today in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) to align Indian industry perspectives with B20 Indonesia policy recommendations. This conference would set the tone for the negotiations to ensure that Indian perspectives are well represented in the B20 policy recommendation to Indonesia.
Established in 2010, Business 20 (B20) is the G20’s official discussion forum with the global business community. The B20 aims to provide concrete actionable policy recommendations on the priorities of each rotating presidency to accelerate economic growth and development.
The conference was attended by more than 20 business delegates from Indonesia, including Mr. M ArsjadRasjid P.M, President of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), Ms. ShintaWidjajaKamdani, Chairperson, B20 Indonesia, in addition to H.E. The conference was attended by Ina H. Krishnamurthi, Indonesian Ambassador to India.
The Government of India side was represented by Shri Amitabh Kant, Indian G20 Sherpa, Shri Anurag Jain, Secretary, Ministry of Industrial Promotion and Domestic Trade and other senior officers from DPIIT and other concerned Ministries. Indian industry was represented by many leaders including; Shri Chandrajit Banerjee, DG, CII; Dr. Naushad Forbes, Former President, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Shri Deepak Bagla, MD & CEO, Invest India
After the opening plenary session and opening remarks, dialogues were held on
- (I) Trade and Investment
- (ii) Energy, Sustainability and Climate
- (iii) Digitization and
- (iv) Finance and Infrastructure, with views from B20 Indonesia followed by views from Indian industry and the Government of India .
The G 20 is a group of 19 countries + the EU that together account for around 85% of global GDP, 75% of global trade and 60% of the world’s population. G20 members are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States of America and the European Union . Indonesia currently chairs the G20. The dialogue will pave the way for the final B20 summit on 13-14 November 2022 in Indonesia.
