In a stunning display of box office prowess, Ranbir Kapoor‘s “Animal,” directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, has effortlessly crossed the ₹500 crore mark globally within six days of its release. According to early estimates reported on Sacnilk.com, the film added an additional ₹30 crore to its domestic collection on Wednesday, bringing its India total to ₹312.96 crore.
“Animal” continues to impress with its box office performance, showcasing a 34.88% Hindi occupancy, 25.67% Telugu occupancy, and 18.95% Tamil occupancy on Wednesday. The film made its theatrical debut on December 1, alongside Vicky Kaushal’s “Sam Bahadur.” After an extraordinary opening of ₹63.8 crore in India, “Animal” achieved an unprecedented ₹71.46 crore on its first Sunday.
The movie, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga of “Kabir Singh” fame, is on track to become Ranbir Kapoor’s highest-grossing film, potentially surpassing “Sanju,” where Ranbir portrayed Sanjay Dutt. “Sanju,” directed by Rajkumar Hirani, currently holds a gross worldwide collection of ₹586.85 crore.
Despite its box office success, “Animal” has faced criticism for its portrayal of extreme violence and accusations of glorifying misogyny. The film revolves around the tumultuous relationship between Anil Kapoor’s character, Balbir Singh, and Ranbir’s character, Ranvijay Singh, set against a backdrop of crime and the underworld. Rashmika Mandanna stars opposite Ranbir, with Bobby Deol playing the primary antagonist. The cast also includes Shakti Kapoor, Triptii Dimri, Prithviraj, and Siddhant Karnick.
Adding to the film’s buzz, a new song titled “Jamal Kudu,” featuring Bobby Deol’s entry, was released on Wednesday. The track is reported to be a remake of the Iranian song “Jamaal Jamaaloo.”
As “Animal” continues to roar at the box office, it remains to be seen whether it will surpass the record set by “Sanju” and establish itself as Ranbir Kapoor’s highest-grossing film. The film’s success underscores the audience’s interest in its unique narrative and star-studded ensemble cast.
