The 7th annual bilateral air exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force

The seventh annual bilateral air exercise between the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the French Air and Space Force (FASF), “Exercise Garuda-VII”, concluded at Air Force Station Jodhpur on 12 November 2022. FASF participated in the exercise with Rafale fighter jets and A-330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft while the IAF contingent consisted of Su-30 MKI, Rafale, LCA ‘Tejas’ and Jaguar fighter jets. This fighter element was supplemented by IAF aerial refueling aircraft, AWACS and AEW&C as well as Mi-17 helicopters and the newly introduced LCH “Prachanda”.

Exercise Garuda-VII provided an opportunity for both air forces to interact professionally and share operational knowledge and experience. Through careful planning and execution of various phases of the exercise, IAF and FASF personnel were exposed to realistic air combat simulations and related combat support operations. This allowed the participating contingents to engage in a wide range of interactions, providing valuable insights into each other’s best practices. The exercise also provided a platform for cultural exchange between the air forces of the two countries.
