Shri Narendra Modi inspected the train coaches of Vande Bharat Express 2.0 and reviewed the on-board facilities

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi left the Gandhinagar-Bombay Vande Bharat Express at Gandhinagar station and took a train to Kalupur station today. When he reached Gandhinagar station, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat, Union Railway Minister, Shri Ashvini Vaishnav and Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Hardeep. Singh Puri.

The Prime Minister inspected the train coaches of Vande Bharat Express 2.0 and reviewed the on-board facilities. Shri Modi also inspected the engine control center of the Vande Bharat Express 2.0 locomotive. The Prime Minister then flagged off the new and improved version of the Vande Bharat Express between Gandhinagar and Mumbai and took the train from there to Kalupur station.

Vande Bharat Express 2.0

 The Prime Minister also interacted with his fellow passengers, including family members of railway employees, businesswomen and researchers and young people. He also interacted with the workers, engineers and other employees who toiled to make Vande Bharat trains a resplendent success. The Vande Bharat Express 2.0 between Gandhinagar and Mumbai will be a game changer and boost connectivity between the two commercial hubs of India. It will allow business owners from Gujarat to travel to Mumbai and vice-versa without having to bear the burden of high-cost air tickets while making use of the facilities available in the air.

One-way travel time of Vande Bharat Express 2.0 from Gandhinagar to Mumbai is estimated to be around 6-7 hours. Vande Bharat Express 2.0 offers a myriad of superior airplane-like travel experiences. It is equipped with advanced state-of-the-art safety features including an indigenously developed train collision avoidance system – KAVACH.

The Vande Bharat 2.0 will be equipped with other enhancements and enhanced features such as 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in just 52 seconds and a top speed of up to 180 kilometers per hour. The upgraded Vande Bharat Express will weigh 392 tonnes compared to the previous version’s 430 tonnes. It will also have Wi-Fi content on demand. Each coach is equipped with 32” screens providing passenger information and infotainment compared to 24” in the previous version.

 The Vande Bharat Express will also be environmentally friendly as the ACs will be 15 percent more energy efficient. With dust-free clean air cooling of the traction motor, traveling becomes more comfortable. The side-folding seat facility, previously provided only to Executive class passengers, will now be available for all classes. In addition, Executive Coaches have a 180-degree rotating seat function.

In the new Vande Bharat Express design, a photocatalytic ultraviolet air purification system is installed in the roof-mounted air purification unit (RMPU). As recommended by the Central Scientific Instruments Organization (CSIO), Chandigarh, this system is designed and installed at both ends of the RMPU to filter and clean the air free of germs, bacteria, viruses etc. passing through the fresh air and return air.
