Gujarat intercepted a Pakistani ship with a crew of six, carrying around 40 kilograms of drugs

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and ATS, Gujarat jointly intercepted a Pakistani ship with a crew of six, carrying around 40 kilograms of drugs worth Rs 200 crore, from Indian waters. On the night of 13-14 September 2022, the ICG, acting on intelligence inputs from ATS Gujarat, strategically deployed two class fast fighter ships – C-408 and C-454 – for patrolling in the area close to the notional International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL).

A Pakistani ship was spotted moving suspiciously in Indian waters, five nautical miles inside the notional IMBL and 40 nautical miles from Jakhau. When the Pakistani boat was attacked, it boarded the shipment and began an evasive maneuver. Braving rough seas, ICG ships intercepted the boat and detained it.The ship is brought to Jakhau for further joint investigation. This is the fifth joint operation of ICG and ATS in Gujarat in the last one year. It highlights the importance of effective coordination between stakeholders for a robust coastal security network.
