Shri Dharmendra Pradhan attended the India Ideas Summit organized by the US-India Business Council

Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today attended the India Ideas Summit organized by the US-India Business Council and the US Chamber of Commerce for International Affairs in South Asia. The theme of the event was “Maximizing the Next 75 Years of US-India Prosperity”. CEOs and senior management of American companies were present on this occasion.

Talking about Indo-US relations, Shri Pradhan said that India and US have similar societies and shared values. Education and skill development are important pillars of India-US relations, he added. He called for greater academic cooperation between higher education institutions in both countries to offer twinning, joint degrees and dual study programs. He also called for increased cooperation in research and skills development

Shri Pradhan while interacting with captains of industry outlined India’s vision in the education and skill development sector. Speaking on the National Education Policy 2020, he elaborated on its role in empowering 21st century learners and building a vibrant, future-ready workforce.

Speaking about the NEP’s focus on internationalizing education, Minister Pradhan called on US institutions and companies to partner with India in the rapidly transforming education and skills landscape. The growing digital economy, aspirational population, knowledge-based society and political reforms are creating unprecedented opportunities in India, he added.

Talking about skills, the Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is making great efforts to acquire skills, re-skill and up-skill its youth. India has a large, young and educated population which is an asset to any industry globally if they are provided with targeted training and capacity building as per industry requirements, he added. He also said that India is doing favorably mainly due to its demographic advantage and various skill initiatives.
