63.55 million Aadhaars have been successfully updated based on requests from residents

Aadhaar enrolment, use and adoption in India is progressing well and by the end of July 2022, more than 134.11 million Aadhaars have so far been generated for residents. Residents have successfully updated 1.47 million Aadhaars in the month of July and till date (end of July) 63.55 million Aadhaars have been successfully updated based on requests from residents. These update requirements are for demographic and biometric updates done at both physical Aadhaar centers and using the online Aadhaar platform.

In July, 152.5 million authentication transactions were done through Aadhaar. Most of these monthly transaction numbers were done using fingerprint biometric authentication (122.57 million) followed by demographic authentication. A cumulative number of 7855.24 million Aadhaar authentications have been done till the end of July 2022 as against 7702.74 million such authentications by the end of June.

More than 53 lakh Aadhaars were generated during July, the majority of which were children under 18 (0-18 age group). The Aadhaar saturation level among the adult population is now almost universal and the overall saturation level is 93.41%. At least 26 states and UT is now over 90% saturated. Aadhaar, the digital infrastructure for good governance, is a catalyst for ease of living and ease of doing business. Digital ID helps various ministries and departments at the center and states to improve efficiency, transparency and delivery of social services to target beneficiaries. About 900 social security schemes in the country run by the Center as well as states have so far been announced to use Aadhaar.

Aadhaar Payment Bridge (APB) plays a key role in providing benefits through welfare schemes, including direct transfer of benefits for LPG, MGNREGA and National Social Assistance Program or NASP. All APB transactions during the month of July involved an amount of Rs. 12,511 million crowns. Be it e-KYC, Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) for last mile banking or Aadhaar enabled DBT, Aadhaar is playing a stellar role in supporting the vision of Digital India of Honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In July, the number of e-KYC transactions done through Aadhaar was 22.84 million. The cumulative number of e-KYC transactions so far has increased from 1226.39 million in June to 1249.23 million in July. The e-KYC transaction is done after the consent of the Aadhaar holder and eliminates the physical paperwork and personal verification that is often required for KYC registrations. Over 1507 million last mile banking transactions have been enabled through the Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) and micro ATM network. It enabled financial inclusion at the bottom of the pyramid. In July alone, 22.37 million AEPS transactions were done in India.

Note: UIDAI launches a monthly bulletin highlighting the achievements and progress of Aadhaar. Media should note that some data points may subsequently undergo minor updates.
