Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has urged Delhiites to hoist the national flag on their homes as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign that begins on Saturday, saying the tricolor is the country’s honor and glory.The Kejriwal government plans to distribute 25 lakh tricolors among school children and people in every corner of the capital and organize various other patriotic programs to celebrate 75 years of independence. “Tricolor is our pride, honour, glory and life. Har Ghar Tiranga campaign starts today. Hoist the tricolor in your homes with pride,” Kejriwal tweeted.
The Center has announced a ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign to celebrate this special occasion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier urged people to use the tricolor as their profile picture on their social media accounts. The Kejriwal government is also celebrating 75 years of independence with ‘Har Haath Tiranga’. The Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues joined the people in singing the national anthem with the tricolor on the evening of 14 August. “I want to appeal to the people of the country to celebrate the eve of Independence Day with equal fervor.
Let us all come together on August 14 at 5 pm and sing the national anthem with tiranga in our hands and deshbhakti (patriotism) in our hearts,” Kejriwal said earlier. The government will organize ground events at 100 locations and a ‘tiranga’ concert. Twenty thousand children are planning to participate in the celebration. Of the 25 million flags collected under the campaign, 20 million will be distributed among school children, two million among people and the remaining three million among government and local body employees in Delhi.
