Two terrorists who were trying to infiltrate an army camp at Pargal in Rajouri’s Darhal area were neutralized early Thursday morning, a senior police official said. Mukesh Singh, Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, said two army personnel were also injured in the attack. Security officials cordoned off the area and additional teams were dispatched to the scene. As reported by the army, someone tried to cross the fence of the army camp at Pargal near Budh Kanadi in Darhal area of Rajouri district early this morning.
The patrol on guard was attacked and a firefight ensued. Additional teams have been dispatched to the location which is about 6 km from Darhal police station,” Singh said. Army’s 16 Corps tweeted, “Two terrorists were spotted trying to sneak into Pargal #Rajouri post in the dark. engaged by emergency units. The terrorists were neutralized. 5 soldiers also sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.” Indian Army officials said it was a suicide attack that was foiled by security guards on guard duty.
The attackers tried to enter the camp at around 3.30 am but the attempt was foiled and firing ensued,” they said. According to official sources, three soldiers were killed in the attack while an officer was injured. 16 Corps Commander Lt Gen Manjinder Singh is continuously monitoring the situation on site. The area is being disinfected,” Indian Army officials were quoted as saying.
