Chinese coast guard ships intrude Japanese waters, near Senkaku Islands

Tokyo, Japan: Making it the first intrusion of 2022, four Chinese Coast Guard ships entered the Japanese waters near the Senkaku Islands and remained there for more than an hour.

According to the Japanese Coast Guard headquarter in Nanha, the four ships entered the Japanese waters at around 10:10 am, from the southeast of the Kuba Islands, and left the waters from the north-northeast of the islands between 11:45 am to noon.

The Senkaku Islands are located in the East China Sea, and China has been asserting its claims over the islands since the 1970s, quoting historic rights on the area. The Chinese have named the islands Diaoyu.
