National Focus: NITI and WFP will prepare practices for increasing millet production and consumption in India and abroad

NITI and WFP will prepare a compendium of best practices for increasing millet production and consumption in India and abroad. NITI Aayog and World Food Program (WFP), India will launch a hybrid event on 19 July 2022 “Mapping and Exchange of Good Practices” for Millet Mainstreaming in Asia and Africa.

The event will be inaugurated by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Suman Bery in the presence of member Prof. Ramesh Chanda and advisor Dr. Neelam Patel, WFP Representative and India Country Director Bishow Parajuli, Director General of the National Rainfed Authority Dr. Ashok Dalwai and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture Shubha Thakur.

Representatives of ICAR, Central and State Ministries, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Industry, Central and State Agricultural Universities, FPOs, NGOs, Start-ups, Academic and Research Institutions and International Organizations like International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid This event the Tropics (ICRISAT), Food Agriculture Organization (FAO), International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage (ICID), etc. will also participate.
