Governance Focus: All parties to cooperate for smooth functioning of Parliament: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs

Today, a day before the start of the 2022 Monsoon Session of Parliament, a cabinet meeting was held here with top leaders of all parties. In his opening address, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Shri Pralhad Joshi informed that the Monsoon Session of Parliament 2022 will begin on Monday 18th July 2022 and depending on the exigencies of government affairs the session may end on Friday 12th August 2022. The session will provide a total of 18 sessions spread over within a period of 26 days. He also informed that 32 legislative points for discussion have been tentatively identified for this session, of which 14 have already been completed.

The Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs said that the government is always ready to discuss on the floor of the House any matter that is permitted by the rules of procedure of the respective Speakers. At the same time, he asked all party leaders for active cooperation and support for the smooth functioning of both chambers of parliament. The meeting was also attended by the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Textiles, Shri PiyushGoyal, who is also the Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Ministry of Culture Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Ministry of External Affairs Shri V. Muraleedharan.

After hearing the points raised by the representatives of all stakeholders in the meeting, Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Defense Minister thanked the leaders for their active and effective participation in the meeting and also expressed appreciation that the discussion was very healthy. and that important issues have been identified. He also said that the government would make necessary efforts to discuss matters of urgent public importance in addition to normal legislative business in Parliament.Thirty five parties, INC, DMK, AITC, YSRCP, SS, JD(U), BJD, BSP, TRS, LJSP, NCP, SP, CPI(M), IUML, TDP , Apna Dal, CPI were present in the meeting apart from BJP , NPF, SAD, RLD, AAP, AJSU, AIADMK, KC(M), MNF, NDPP, RSP, VCK, RPI(A), RJD, NPP, MDMK, UPP(L), AGP and RLP .
