Lifestyle Focus: Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor starrer Brahmastra releases in theaters on September 9&AyanMukerji spoke about the different weapons in movie

Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar and Ayan Mukerji took to Instagram on Wednesday to share some fresh visuals of the various weapons featured in their upcoming film Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva. In the nearly four-minute-long video with impressive VFX footage, Ayan is seen introducing and dissecting the various asters that are part of the upcoming film, which will hit theaters on September 9. His magnum opus stars Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role alongside Alia. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy.

While Brahmastra is a fiction, my attempt was to celebrate Indian spirituality in my own way through this film. On this very auspicious day of Guru Purnima, I wanted to share a little more in-depth about the concept of Brahmastra – a film that has personally transformed me into an eternal student of the infinite wisdom that exists in our ancient Indian roots… I hope you enjoy our imagination, ” Ayan wrote on Instagram while sharing the ‘Brahmastra vision’.

The video opens with a “never-before-seen world of ancient Indian asters”, featuring key concept art such as the Vanarastra, Nandiastra, Prabhastra, Jalastra, Pawanastra and Brahmastra. Talking about the ‘Astraverse concept’ in the video, Ayan says, “Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva is the first film of this Astraverse. It begins with an image from a mystical time in ancient India where a group of sages are in deep mediation in the Himalayas. For their meditation, sages are blessed with the ‘Light of the Universe.'” AyanMukerji called it “the most powerful and purest energy that exists – Braham-shakti”.He further explained how from this ‘Braham-shakti’ were born the astras which have within them all the various energies found in nature like ‘fire, wind, water, earth’.

He called them ‘Jal (water) Astra, Pawan (wind) Astra and Agny (fire) Astra’. He also spoke of astras having the powers of various animals within them, such as the Vanarastra “which can give the person who wields it the power of a Super Monkey”. He said that Nandiastra had within him “the strength and power of a thousand bulls”. But there is one astra, the last to emerge from the ‘Light of the Universe’, ‘bearer of its collective’, ‘lord of all others’, named by sages after one of the most powerful weapons of the gods – Brahmastra’.

The sages swear to protect these astras, and as guardians of the Brahmastra they are called Brahmansh, a secret society that will exist among other people and do good for the world by the power of these astras. Time moves forward humanity progresses and Brahmastra also continues. Brahmansh secretly pass the astra from generation to generation until our world today where Brahmansh still exists,” said Ayan.

India as it is today is where the story of Brahmastra takes place, the filmmaker, who is also the writer of the upcoming adventure drama, said in the video. “I believe it puts us in a very unique position because what we’re doing with ancient Indian inspiration has never been done in the modern world,” he said.Ayan also talked about how Ranbir Kapoor’s character in Brahmastra is a ‘miracle’ because he is ‘astra itself’ – Agni (fire) Astra. “It is named after the God who is personally dearest to me, most mystical, almighty and my greatest inspiration – Shiva.” The much awaited trailer of Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva was released on 15th June. The three-minute trailer featured plenty of visually stunning moments and hinted at the size of the film.
