Entertainment Focus: The National Award winner South superstar Vikram was rushed to the Kauvery Hospital on Wednesday

South superstar Vikram says he is doing well and was in the hospital after a “slight chest discomfort” and not a cardiac arrest as blasted by sections of the media and some “creative” minds on social media platforms. The 56-year-old actor, who was admitted to a hospital in Chennai last week, assured his fans that he is fine and thanked them for their wishes.

“There was a slight chest pain. I went to the hospital just for that. But it was out of proportion. I’m fine… If you all are there with me, nothing will happen to me. My family, friends, fans and you are here for me,” Vikram said at the audio launch of his upcoming Tamil film “Cobra” on Monday night. The National Award winner was rushed to the Kauvery Hospital on Wednesday, but news of his hospitalization surfaced on Friday, hours before the trailer of his much-awaited period drama “Ponniyin Selvan: I” was released.

Soon rumors began to spread that he had suffered a cardiac arrest. The claim was denied by the hospital authorities as well as Vikram’s manager Suryanarayanan M. The actor was discharged from the hospital on Saturday. The star of films like “Pithamagan”, “Anniyan” and “Raavanan” took a dig at the media and said that they have seen a lot of misinformation about his health.People also got “creative,” Vikram said as he recounted how the miniature was photographed by some who morphed his face into a patient.”I shouldn’t put my hand on my chest. They (the media) can come up with the claim that I’m having a heart attack. I can imagine the headline they can pick for tomorrow’s edition.

“They can say that what they predicted was confirmed by Vikram. They can say that Vikram gestured that he had a heart attack when he was on stage for the audio launch of ‘Cobra’,” he said. Directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu with A R Rahman as the music composer, “Cobra” is set to hit the theaters on August 11. It also stars Srinidhi Shetty, Miya George, Roshan Mathew and marks the feature debut of cricketer Irfan Pathan.
