Geopolitics Focus: US national security adviser said that President Joe Biden would seek to deepen Israel’s integration

US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Monday that President Joe Biden would seek to “deepen Israel’s integration into the region” during his trip to the Middle East later this week, as well as “provide material support to the Palestinian people while protecting the vision of a two-state solution” and “to coordinate the multifaceted threat posed by Iran”. “Any normalization of any kind is a long process. But finding progress and momentum in that direction is certainly something we’re focused on,” said US national security adviser Jake Sullivan.

He also said that before ending the trip, the president will attend the “GCC+3” summit. “At this summit, he will make a major statement about the Biden administration’s strategy, his vision for the Middle East region,” Sullivan said. The national security adviser briefed the press ahead of Biden’s trip to the Middle East for the first time since taking office. “Despite ongoing challenges, the Middle East President Biden is visiting is more stable than the one he inherited 18 months ago,” Sullivan said. “We have united our partners to ensure that it is Iran, not the United States, that will be isolated until it returns to the nuclear deal. And the frequency of Iranian-sponsored attacks against our forces in Iraq and Syria has dropped dramatically.
