World Governance Focus: Japan’s annual consumer inflation has been above the target of the central bank

In Japan, the Consumer Price Index or CPI measures changes in the prices paid to consumers by basket of goods and services. Consumer Price Index CPI in Japan increased to 101.80 points in May from 101.50 points in April of 2022.

More attention is needed to reduce the risks of inflation, a Japanese government spokesman said on Friday.”We think we need to take a closer look at potential economic risks such as reducing private spending and corporate activities,” Deputy Cabinet Secretary Seiji Kihara told a news conference.
