Geopolitical Focus: Repeated missions by the Chinese air force on Taiwan region & China claims Taiwan as its own territory

Taiwan has flown in to warn of 29 Chinese planes in its air defense base, including bombs flying south of the island into the Pacific, in the wake of the recent uprising and massive influx since late May. Taiwan, China claims its territory, has complained over the past two years or so of repeated visits by Chinese military forces to a democratic island, usually in the southwestern part of the air defense checkpoint, or ADIZ, near the Taiwanese controlled Pratas Islands. Taiwan calls China’s immediate replica of the “gray area” war, designed to undermine Taiwanese forces by repeatedly mocking them, as well as examining Taiwan’s responses.

The latest Chinese operation on Tuesday included 17 battleships and six H-6 bombs, as well as electronic battles, an early warning, a submarine and a gasoline aircraft, the Taiwan Defense Department said. Some of the planes flew to the area northeast of Pratas, according to a service map. However, the bombers, accompanied by an electronic war machine and a intelligence-carrying plane, flew on the Bashi Channel separating Taiwan from the Philippines and the Pacific before turning to China on their route. Taiwan has sent fighter jets to warn Chinese airlines, while an arrow system is being sent to monitor them, the department said, using common words in response.

It was the biggest incident since Taiwan reported 30 Chinese flights to its ADIZ on 30 May. The biggest so far this year has happened on January 23, involving 39 flights. No immediate comment was made from China, which has previously stated that such movements were tests aimed at defending the monarchy. A spokesman for the US embassy told Reuters in an email that Beijing should “stop the military, communications, and economic pressures and intimidation of Taiwan”. China unveiled a third airline on Friday, Fujian, named after the province facing Taiwan.

The Chinese military said last month it had launched an operation around Taiwan as a “strong warning” against “cooperation” with the United States. That came after U.S. President Joe Biden angered China by apparently pointing to a change in US policy on “strategic ambiguity” in Taiwan by saying the United States would join the military if China invaded the island.

China has added pressure to force Taiwan to accept its monarchy claims. The Taipei government says it wants peace but will protect itself in the event of an attack. No shots were fired and the Chinese plane did not fly in Taiwan’s airspace, but in its ADIZ, Taiwan’s wide range of surveillance and surveillance makes it more time to respond to any threats.
