Governance Focus: How the Modi Govt. is providing equal opportunity to all sections of the Society with their social welfare schemes

Women-led development has been a major theme in the Modi government since the NDA was elected to office in 2014. The Modi government has empowered women on many fronts.

• To combat social ills such as the murder of women, PM Modi introduced BetiBachao, BetiPadhao (BBBP). BBBP has been able to bring about a change in people’s thinking, which has ensured a high level of gender for all Indians and a high literacy rate for women.

The promise of financial security for the girl child by establishing the SukanyaSamriddhi Account has had a significant impact on ensuring the future of the girl child.

Swachh Bharat has rescued women from life-threatening diseases caused by exposure. It also protected their dignity and reduced crime against women.

Pradhan MantriUjjwalaYojana which aims to give women a non-smoking life has successfully introduced cylinders even during confinement. The inclusion of LPGs increased from 55 percent to 97.4 percent, indicating that the program has served as one of the major drivers of socio-economic transformation in the country.

In addition, to understand the importance of skilled professionals in providing prenatal and postnatal care, there are many other programs such as the SurakshitMatritvaAashwasan Initiative, Mission Indradhanush, POSHAN Abhiyan, and Kilkari working to provide maternal health in the form of timely medication guidelines

In addition, by extending paid maternity leave from 12 weeks to 26 weeks, PM Modi has ensured that women’s representation in the workplace is not compromised by pregnancy.

To protect the interests of Muslim women, Triple Talaaq has been sentenced to three years in prison and a fine.

To address the gender pay gap, the Wage Laws Bill, 2019, was passed by Parliament, guaranteeing equal pay for equal work.

More than 15 million loans have been paid to women borrowers since the inception of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) program.

Undoubtedly, PM Modi is writing a new chapter in Indian history where there is equality, opportunity, and dignity for everyone. Equality in violation of social and economic barriers, opportunity for disadvantaged classes and the dignity of divyang and transgender society.

Whether social or individual growth, without equality, our decisions will not be realized or society will not prosper. Our government is making continuous efforts to end this inequality.

Empowerment of All

Under the leadership of PM Modi, the government has empowered sectors that have been disadvantaged by economic growth and social change.”With the help and development of SC / ST, a proposal for Rs. 85,000 crore for the welfare of SC and other back classes by 2021,” said Finance Minister Nirmala Sithraman in presenting the Union’s 2020-21 budget. “The government provides Rs. 53,700 crore for the development and welfare of ST,” he added.

Also, to facilitate employment in all SC / STs and to support their empowerment dreams, the government launched the Stand-up India program. The system assists bank lending between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 1 million for at least one Caste / Tribe Organized Borrower and one female borrower, per branch of the Commercial Banking Bank (SCBs), to establish green businesses in the manufacturing, services or commercial sectors.

It is more than Rs. 20,000 crore loans have been imposed under the Stand-Up India Scheme since its inception. Also, in 2015, Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Ltd. (MUDRA) was established to borrow small units with loan requirements of up to Rs. 10 lakh. More than Rs 11 lakh crore has been given to small business owners, most of whom are members of the poorer sections of society.

Moreover, in the interim budget for 2019-2020, interim Finance Minister PiyushGoyal said: “… and, therefore, they are often left out.” To address this, the overall budget of the Department of Social Justice and Development, which looks after the welfare of karamcharis, people with disabilities, SC, ST and other background classes (OBC) and the so-called Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-nomadic Tribes (DNTs)). has seen 13.7 percent growth in 2020-21.Also, DNTs were not seen as a separate social class, therefore, the biggest obstacle they faced was access to social programs. In view of this, a committee was set up to finalize the process of identifying undetectable DNTs.
