The Indian cricket team will return to the field on June 9 when the team faces South Africa in the first five of the T20Is at the ArunJaitley Stadium in Delhi. While players like Rohit Sharma, ViratKohli, and JaspritBumrah have been relieved of the series, KL Rahul will lead the team with batter-wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant as his deputy. The series also marks the return of Hardik Pandya who is a full-time player for the Indian team for the first time since last year’s T20 World Cup.
Pandya enjoyed a good exit from the recently concluded 2022 Indian Premier League, where he led the Gujarat Titans to victory in the first season. The GT captain is the team that has scored the most goals for his team this season, scoring 487 runs in 15 innings (fourth place above). In the final, Pandya again produced an excellent match for the ball, registering 3/17 in four overs.
Former India coach Ravi Shastri, who worked closely with Pandya during his tenure, spoke openly about the player’s return and emphasized that he should play only a short way until this year’s T20 World Cup.
