Bill Gates praises India: ‘Success with vaccination policy offers lessons in the world’

India’s success with vaccination campaigns and the use of technology to improve health outcomes on a large scale provides many lessons from around the world, said Microsoft founder Bill Gates on Saturday days after his meeting with union health minister MansukhMandaviya. The health minister – earlier this week – shared photos on Twitter of his meeting with Gates in Davos.

“It ‘s a pleasure to work with @BillGates on # WEF22. “We have discussed many topics related to health care including digital promotion. Health, disease control, regional mRNA designation, and strengthening the development of affordable diagnostics and quality and medical equipment, etc. (sic),” he continued.

Responding to the tweets, Gates on Saturday said: “It was great to meet Dr @mansukhmandviya and discuss ideas on world health. India’s success with vaccination campaigns and the use of technology to drive high-quality health outcomes provides many lessons in the world. ”

India launched a major Covid vaccination campaign in January last year. Since then, about 88 percent of adults have been completely vaccinated, the health minister said in a review Saturday. The country relies heavily on the Serum Institute of India’s Covishield and local Covaxin for vaccination.

Meanwhile, the Bill Gates ’Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation have been operating in India since 2003. “We have invested more in India than in any other country except the United States,” it said on its official website.

The non-profit organization is working on “important issues that will affect the future of India’s most vulnerable communities: fertility, motherhood, newborns, and child health and nutrition; sanitation; agricultural development; gender equality, and digital investment. ”
