11th India-UAE Joint Defense Cooperation Committee held: New Delhi

The United Arab Emirates’ s Chief of Defense Development Authority Major General Staff Hassan Mohamed Sultan Bani Hammad summoned Secretary of Defense Dr Ajay Kumar in New Delhi on May 25, 2022. They discussed ways to improve security cooperation between the two countries. The General also reported to the Secretary of Defense about the 11th India-UAE Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) meeting held on May 24, 2022.

Research and Development

The JDCC meeting was co-chaired by Joint Secretary (Armed Forces) Shri Dinesh Kumar and the Head of Military Development Officer at the Department of Defense, UAE. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the progress made in the military and military negotiations, which included joint exercise, Professional Trade, Industrial Cooperation and Cooperation in the field of Research and Development. It was decided to identify new approaches and explore areas of interest in both Joint Venture to improve cooperation in the defense industry. Improving the scope and complexity of the existing joint tests was also discussed.

It was agreed to hold the next JDCC meeting in the UAE on agreed dates in 2023. The JDCC is a central body between the Defense Ministries of India and the UAE to fully review and regulate all aspects of defense cooperation.The General also met with the Deputy Chief of Integrated Defense personnel (Policy Planning and Capacity Development) Lt General Atulya Solankey at Head Office, Integrated Defense personnel. The UAE team also contacted Indian Defense Industries and visited Bharat Electronics Limited, in Ghaziabad.
