Index Numbers of Wholesale Price in India for the Month of April, 2022

The monthly change in the WPI index for April, 2022 stands at 2.08% compared to March, 2022. Monthly change in the major WPI groups:

• Basic Records (Weight 22.62%): – Index of this large group increased by 2.70% to 174.9 (temporary) in April, 2022 from 170.3 (temporary) March, 2022. Food Prices (3.61%), Non-Food Topics (1.20%), Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas (0.59%) and Minerals (0.13%) increased in April, 2022 compared to March, 2022.

• Fuel & Power (Weight 13.15%): – The index for this large group increased by 2.79% to 151 (temporary) in April, 2022 from 146.9 (temporary) in March, 2022. Oil Prices Minerals (7.58%) increased in April, 2022 compared to March, 2022. Electricity prices (-9.68%) decreased in April, 2022 compared to March, 2022.

• Manufactured Products (Weight 64.23%): – Index of this large group increased 1.69% to 144 (temporary) in April, 2022 from 141.6 (temporary) in March, 2022. 22 NIC with two digits of the two product groups produced, 18 groups saw inflation and 3 groups saw inflation. Inflation is mainly supplied by basic metals, chemicals and chemical products, textiles, machinery and equipment, electronics, and food products. Manufactured Products inflation rate based on the WPI Food Index increased from 8.71% in March, 2022 to 8.88% in April, 2022.

• Final Indicator for the month of February 2022 (Foundation Year: 2011-12 = 100): For the month of February, 2022 Storage Retail Price Index and inflation rate for ‘All Goods’ (Foundation: 2011-12 = 100) is fixed. at 145.3 and 13.43% respectively. Annual Prices (Y-o-Y) based on the WPI of different commodity groups over the past six months in Annex II. The WPI index for the various stock groups over the past six months is in Annex III.

• Response Rate: The WPI of April, 2022 is compiled with an average response rate of 83 percent, while the final figure for February, 2022 is based on a response rate of 92 percent. Temporary WPI stats will be updated according to the final WPI review policy.
