Union Minister of Education and Skills Development Shri Dharmendra Pradhan today held a comprehensive consultation on additional steps to establish the Indian Higher Education Commission (HECI).
At the meeting, Shri Pradhan said HECI should ensure employment, job creation and global vision. It should ensure international education standards and provide greater educational independence in higher education institutions, he added.
He went on to say that this important recommendation of NEP-2020 would be one of the many steps towards the removal of colonialism from the country’s education system.
It was proposed that HECI become a major regulatory base for all higher education institutions in the country.
