Steps have been taken between India and Germany on agro-ecology and sustainable management of natural resources. In this regard, the Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Shri Narendra Singh Tomar and the German Minister for Economic Co-operation and Development Svenja Schulze signed the declaration at a special meeting today. Through this, joint research, information sharing and innovation will be developed between educational institutions of both countries and staff including farmers. The transfer of technology and scientific knowledge will be promoted through the promotion of trade, partnerships and research partnerships with the private sector.
The German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development aims to provide up to 300 million euros by 2025 through financial and technical cooperation on projects under this program. Germany will provide integrated support for this lighthouse program, supporting the agro-ecological transformation process in India through the Technical Cooperation Project. With regard to the transformation of the agricultural and global science agenda, the two countries are considering the establishment of a joint research center supported by financial cooperation to develop and share high-quality information with workers in India, Germany and abroad, facilitating the development of value-added technology and science transfer.
To oversee the implementation, a working team with relevant chiefs will be established, namely, the Department of Environment, Forestry and Climate Change, the Department of Fisheries, Livestock and Dairy and NITI Aayog.
