NCTE under the Department of Education invites applications for the 4-Year Teacher Education Program

The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) invites online applications for the 4 Year Integrated Education Education Programs (ITEP) for the 2023-24 Session. ITEP, as announced on 22 October 2021, is a dual bachelor’s degree that offers a BA. B.Ed./ B. Sc. B. Ed. and B.Com. B.Ed. It is one of the major activities of the 2020 National Education Policy related to Teacher Education. It will be provided with pre-screening mode at multi-sectoral Universities / Institutions of Government institutions across the country. A similar recognition will be made by the National Assessment Agency (NTA) through the National Common Entrance Test (NCET).

The National Council for Educational Education (NCTE) under the Department of Education has designed the curriculum for this subject as per NEP 2020 in such a way that it allows student educators to graduate in education and special discipline such as history, mathematics, science, arts, economics, or commerce. ITEP will not only teach quality courses but will also lay the foundation for early childhood development and education (ECCE), basic literacy and numeracy (FLN), inclusive education, and understanding of India and its principles / belief / art / culture. , among others.

The 4-year ITEP will be available to all students who choose to teach as a career after high school, voluntarily. This integrated course will benefit students as they will save one year by completing it in four years than the normal five years required by the current B.Ed. system. ITEP 4 Years is a milestone in achieving one of the major mandates of the 2020 National Education Policy. This course will go a long way in reviving the whole field of teacher education. Those who will be successful teachers in this subject with a multidisciplinary environment, based on Indian values ​​and culture will be immersed in 21st century international needs, and as a result will be instrumental in shaping the future of New India.

For more information on this program, please refer to the National Council for Teacher Education Amendment (Recognition, Procedures and Procedures Amendment), 2021, published in the Indian Gazette dated 26.10.2021, regarding the Norms and Standards. Various Universities / Government Institutions / Provinces may submit an online application for approval for 4 years ITEP will be operational from 1 to 31 May 2022 (until 11:59 p.m.).
