Tripura CM urges Bangladesh IT firms to invest in government

Noting that bilateral trade and communications are essential to India and Bangladesh’s sustainable economic development, Tripura Prime Minister Biplab Kumar Deb urged IT companies in neighboring countries to invest in his province.

Deb, during the first edition of the ‘Digital Bangladesh IT Summit-2022′ on Thursday, also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking him to launch international flights to Dhaka, Chittagong, Singapore and Bangkok from the country’s capital Agartala. .

He said Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala was the best in the northeast. The prime minister pointed out that another airport was built in the Unakoti area of Kailashahar district “at an estimated cost of Rs.500 crore”. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak was one of the delegates at a one-day conference.

Once the flights start operating on the Agartala-Dhaka and Agartala-Chittagong roads, Bangladeshi people may have the opportunity to travel (to other destinations) using two airports in the province, as long as the Agency agrees to the same.

“The Bangladesh 24-hour arrival center can be properly established with the approval of the central government,” said Deb. CM stressed that technology-driven trade could improve trade relations between the two countries. Bangladesh IT companies are welcome to invest. in Tripura and use the benefits offered by the government, says Deb. He insists Bangladesh will benefit greatly if all eight northeastern regions use the port of Chittagong to bring in wheat and rice.

Palak, meanwhile, highlighted the steps his country has taken in the IT field over the last 12-13 years. “Sheikh Hasina Digital Bangladesh ‘dream project,” he said.

The minister reiterated that his country is committed to signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Tripura to improve the IT sector. “It is possible that Bangla has invested in the proposed Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the South Tripura Sabroom,” he added.
