DRDO Indian Army Successfully Test Advanced MRSAM in Odisha

The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted four flight tests of the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) system in collaboration with the Indian Army. The tests took place on April 3 and 4 at Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the Odisha coast, confirming the missile’s effectiveness against high-speed aerial threats.

These trials, carried out under the supervision of the Eastern and Southern Commands of the Army, showcased the operational readiness of the missile across a range of altitudes and distances, delivering direct hits on all targets.

Jointly developed by DRDO and Israel Aerospace Industries, the MRSAM system was tested in full operational configuration. The tests were monitored using advanced instruments, including radar and electro-optical tracking systems, ensuring precise performance data collection.

Senior officials from both DRDO and the Indian Army were present during the trials, which also pave the way for the system’s deployment across two army regiments, marking a significant step forward in India’s air defense capabilities.
