The U.S. identifies potential wind power zones away from Oregon, on the Atlantic coast

On Wednesday Biden management identified new potential areas for coastal development along the coast of Oregon and a few inland Atlantic states, their latest move to strengthen the fledgling American industry. to remove carbon from the U.S. energy sector. by 2035 and the whole economy by 2050.

Wednesday’s announcement by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, which is part of the Interior Ministry, is the first step in identifying land for sale to companies looking to build offshore wind farms. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has identified two locations, known as telephone stations, which may be located off the coast of Oregon in the Pacific Northwest. The two sites, covering 1.16 million hectares, are located about 12 miles [12 km] off the coast of central and southern Oregon.

The organization, which oversees coastal wind development, has also identified six areas, or 3.9 million hectares, between Delaware and North Carolina. Areas 20 miles or more from the coast. So far, most of the developments in coastal air development in the United States have taken place in the Northeast, but Biden officials aim to hold up to seven sales by 2025 in areas including the Gulf of Mexico, California, Oregon, Carolinas and the Gulf of Maine.

The newly identified areas will be demolished after BOEM has considered ideas from the public, industry, government agencies and provincial and national governments. The BOEM said it would accept public comment on the 60-day call points ending June 28.
